Grass root nutrition education

Sheri Boyden is looking to address the growing problem of obesity in the United States and the World, head on. A graduate of UC Berkeley’s Nutrition Program and former lead nutritionist of The Golden Door and Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Sheri recognizes that obesity is a complex societal challenge with many, many factors. However, most nutritionist agree that the best solution to this challenge is preemptive – establish healthy eating habits early in life.

Currently in pilot development stages with Washoe County Public Schools in Northern Reno, With My Own Two Hands is a start-up charity focused on creating school gardens and implement a curriculum of in-garden learning activities. Based on her family experience, Sheri has found that her own children have learned the merits of eating nutritiously at home in her garden. Further, they gained an appreciation for where and how food is grown. Sheri hopes to build a program that will offer those same benefits to more children.

Bright connected with Sheri in October 2009, and immediately wanted to participate in this ambitious program. With My Own Two Hands’ success depends on Sheri’s ability to connect with young students, their parents and communities. Therefore, Bright developed an brand image program demonstrating fun, learning and children to better foster this connectivity.

Bright has provided design services to develop an identity, site banners, stationery, interim mailer and website for this meaningful organization. As we enter 2010, and With My Own Two Hands begins to yield case studies, Bright will continue to support the charity by providing design services on donor incentives, wearables and full website.
